The Early Birds

Hello all!

I started this summer to really think about many things in my life and then reprioritize. Who else has done this recently? In regards to painting, I have thought about my process thus far, what I paint and why, and what steps I need to take to get different outcomes. One thing I keep coming back to is that no one is going to paint for me.

In theory, this statement sounds silly, especially while saying it out loud. But for understanding any skill better, it's really about putting in the time. To be honest, it's not about talent or anything like that- regardless of your profession. It's just about showing up and learning. I think the author of Atomic Habits, James Clear said it best; You have to, “fall in love with boredom. Fall in love with repetition and practice.”

So, one thing I started doing is painting early in the morning before any other work in the day. It’s a small adjustment producing a bigger impact. It helps me prioritize, see things in a different light( literally), and appreciate the early birds.

Have a colorful day,

xxCass
