Flight Home - Painting in sessions

Hello all!

It’s about time for a seasonal painting. Here’s a tiny bit of home for the birds and people who need it right now. Everyone’s definition of ‘home’ has shifted a lot this year through hardships, loss, and/or injustices. But home can also bring us together stronger, kinder, and perhaps a little bit wiser than before.

And now onto the painting!

In this photo, you can see some of the paint mixtures I created for the birdhouse. (Mostly playing with red and green complements.)

Also shown is my storage container holding separate tubed or premixed colors.

I usually try to paint in the least amount of sessions possible, in order to maintain the “feel” or “emotion” of the piece. However, this one was created in several shorter sessions which ended up making a more textured and layered effect.
